Transit Map Tuesday Archive — GreaterPRT
Recently I tried to find the old Transit Map Tuesdays from the I SEPTA Philly blog in 2020—only to find that the I SEPTA Philly blog has been abolished by SEPTA. It now redirects to the septa.org news page which has imported all the blog posts from 2022 onwards. They have set up a clumsy redirect which prevents you from accessing the original pages on the old website.
With the Internet Archive still unavailable, and Google having recently shut down Google Cache public access, we have lost a really cool ten post series about what goes into designing a public transit map using ten different cities.
Fortunately, someone who runs a SEPTA fan site managed to save the maps themselves. Unfortunately, they only saved the maps, and not the write-ups that went with them. These blog posts were the first stages of developing the new SEPTA Metro map that is being rolled out citywide. It was very cool watching the development of that map and seeing why they made the decisions they made and what cities they took from.
My Other Brain is an Idiot—Øyvind Thorsby
If you haven't read anything by Øyvind Thorsby before he is a master of the Farce set in an elaborately built world. He has started a new series and it's already going pretty well. Yes the art is hideous but the writing will make you obsessed with it as it goes on if it turns out to be anything like his other comics.
That's all I have for you this week. I've been pretty offline this week because of some big life transitions. I'm still working on some bigger pieces of writing. I will publish them when they feel good.
