Cybrezine and Grad School

It’s been a while since I last posted an update here.

First things first, I’m a contributor to my friend Gô Shoemake’s new zine CYBREMONDAY!! My piece is titled Hooking Up To The Cybre and is about the positives of gay hookup culture. I highly recommend you give the whole issue a read as it talks about the ways queer love and life is so integrated with digital space. The CYBRE MANIFESTO lays out the ideology of the zine and is also a fantastic read.

Next of all, I’m a grad student now! I have officially started part-time pursueing a master’s degree in library and information science. Between full-time work and part-time school I am shoving everything onto the backburner for the next couple years. I’m sure creative works will happen and hear and there but I know that I’m just not going to have the time and energy consistently to say that I’m “working on this chapbook and I swear I’m gonna finish you guys i swear”

Sooo no more ending posts with a fluctuating to-do list of things that are neeeever gonna happen.

What’s exciting about this is that after all this is said and done; I will have time and institutional access to really work on projects like Sailing Rough Waters or Feminiscience but as my actual job!!

I’m sure I won’t be able to tear myself away from Making Stuff but it’s gonna be sporadic and mostly unplanned for the next couple years while I study.

But of course, as a reminder, I still make plenty of “good” “content” on my Mastodon account: https://cybre.space/@shel which I highly recommend you follow. (Which means joining Mastodon already. I Mean, likE, why haven’t you yet.)
